Shower Gel Formulation Recipe Using Texapon SLeS and Coco Betaine

Ingredients:

1. Phase A:
   • Water (Aqua): 60%
   • Glycerin: 2%
   • EDTA: 0.1%
2. Phase B:
   • Texapon SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate): 10%
   • Coco Betaine (Cocamidopropyl Betaine): 10%
   • Cocamide DEA: 3%
3. Phase C:
   • Sodium Chloride (Salt): 2%
   • Preservative (e.g., Phenoxyethanol): 0.5%
   • Fragrance: 0.5%
   • Colorant (optional): as needed
4. Phase D:
   • Citric Acid Solution (10% in Water): Adjust pH to 5.5 – 6.0

Instructions:

1. Phase A Preparation:
   • In a clean and sanitized mixing vessel, add the water.
   • Slowly add the glycerin while stirring until fully dissolved.
   • Add EDTA to the mixture and continue to stir until completely dissolved.
2. Phase B Preparation:
   • In a separate vessel, blend Texapon SLS, Coco Betaine, and Cocamide DEA together until a uniform mixture is obtained.
3. Combining Phases A and B:
   • Slowly add Phase B to Phase A with continuous stirring to avoid foam formation. Mix until homogeneous.
4. Phase C Addition:
   • Gradually add sodium chloride to the mixture while stirring. This will help to thicken the gel.
   • Add the preservative and mix well.
   • Incorporate the fragrance and colorant (if using) and stir until evenly distributed.
5. Phase D pH Adjustment:
   • Check the pH of the mixture and adjust to the desired range (5.5 – 6.0) using the citric acid solution. Add drop by drop, stirring well after each addition.
6. Final Mixing:
   • Ensure the mixture is thoroughly blended and free of lumps.
   • Let the shower gel sit for a few hours (over night recommended) to allow air bubbles to escape, resulting in a clear, smooth product.
