  DIY Moisturizing Castile Body Soap

  Ingredients:

  • Castile Soap Base: 500g
  • Distilled Water: 200g
  • Vegetable Glycerin: 30g
  • Jojoba Oil: 20g
  • Essential Oil (e.g., Lavender, Peppermint): 20g (or as desired for fragrance)

  Equipment:

  • Heat-safe container
  • Digital scale
  • Mixing spoon or spatula
  • Soap molds

  Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Workspace:
     • Ensure your workspace is clean and sanitized. Gather all the necessary ingredients and equipment.
  2. Weigh Ingredients:
     • Measure out the Castile Soap Base, distilled water, vegetable glycerin, jojoba oil, and essential oil using a digital scale.
  3. Melt the Soap Base:
     • Cut the Castile Soap Base into small cubes to facilitate melting.
     • Place the soap cubes in a heat-safe container and melt them using a double boiler setup or microwave. Stir occasionally until completely melted.
  4. Add Liquid Ingredients:
     • Once the soap base is melted, slowly add the distilled water, vegetable glycerin, and jojoba oil to the melted soap base. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Add Essential Oil:
     • Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly.
     • Add the essential oil of your choice for fragrance. Stir well to ensure it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  6. Pour into Molds:
     • Pour the soap mixture into soap molds of your choice. Tap the molds gently on a flat surface to release any air bubbles.
  7. Allow to Set:
     • Let the soap mixture cool and harden in the molds for at least 24 hours, or until completely solidified.
  8. Unmold and Cure:
     • Once the soap has hardened, gently remove it from the molds.
     • Allow the soap bars to cure for an additional 4-6 weeks in a cool, dry place. This curing process ensures a firmer, longer-lasting bar of soap.
  9. Label and Store:
     • Once cured, label your homemade Castile body soap with the date of creation and any additional information. Store in a cool, dry place until ready to use.
